The Mughal Empire was an empire that took over the Indian region. They were one of three major empires during that time besides Safavid Persia and Ming/Qing China. They began in 1526 and became powerful and thrived for about three centuries. The Mughal Empire began in 1526 and ended in 1858. The person who started the empire was Zahir ud-din Muhammad Babur or just Babur for short he was a much respected military conqueror. The Mughal Empire was the most recent and was one of the most powerful empires in India because of its well trained army, Government, and Economy.

The Mughal Empire had a strong and well-trained military because of their strategy and advanced technology. The army won a lot of battles because of their strategy. Instead of charging into battle with their muskets ready to fire they made a plan whether it was to build something or flank the enemy. For example when Babur was trying to take over Delhi instead of charging into the city where a 100,000 men army under control of a man named Ibrahim Lodi was waiting for him. He took his 12,000 men and told them to build a barricade. Once Lodi saw that Babur was not charging he told his men to charge which ended badly for him because Babur ended up killing him and taking control. Another reason the Mughal army was so well-trained was because they had muskets and they knew how to use them. Having muskets was an advantage because a lot of empires still had spears and swords. With muskets they could win more easily because they didn’t have to do hand to hand combat so there were a lot less deaths. While Babur’s army was behind the barricade and Lodi’s army was charging Lodi’s army was already decreasing in number since they could not do anything to the Mughals until they got close. Since Lodi’s army did not have long range weapons they lost.

The Mughal Empire had a strong government power because they have respect for human rights; it was enforced by Akbar. The government officials wanted everyone in the empire to be respected and treated the same. It meant that they did not want any person to be treated like an animal. The empire based all their rules on this topic so there would not be a revolt and also people would want to become part of the empire. Since they had more people becoming part of the empire it was becoming more powerful. Since the government respected human rights a lot of people where happy and they were getting more land.
The Mughals were a strong economical power from their trade, agriculture, and industries. It also had strong economical power because they had good relations with the rest of the world which meant more trade. They also had a good currency system which caused them to be organized which kept order so there was less arguing. Also the Mughal Empire was small and had a strong economy because it was not spread out far and could easily trade goods within the empire. With its trade of textiles, spices, opium, and indigo to trade for other goods they may have needed. They had a fast transport of goods using the river system to move goods up and down the river. They had bridges to cross over rivers and big drops so they did not have to go around obstacles getting to where they needed to go. They also had highways that got them to their destinations quickly because the roads were straight and direct. Through their agriculture they encouraged trade so that they could become more wealthy and prosperous creating an even stronger empire. All excess crops they used to trade so they could use that money to buy things that would help them even more with trade. Some of the crops went to industries that made things to trade to get more money. The Mughals were very successful because other groups did not have their technology. The industries helped them to have better economies than Asia and Europe.

If the Mughal Empire didn’t have some of these key events they might not have been as successful as they were. They made sure they kept power and control over each aspect of the empire so it didn’t collapse on itself. Without the army, the government, and the economy the empire wouldn’t have been so fortunate to survive as long as they did.
