In the short story “Under The Influence” is about how a son who tells his father’s story and the troubles and experiences, he went thorough as a young boy due to his father’s drinking problem. His mother and sister would always try to convince his father to stop drinking and get help but, his father ignored them and would leave the house. He would stay gone for days, sometimes even weeks. In the story he would blame himself for his father's addiction to alcohol.
People can learn many things from this short story. Many children in today's society blame themselves for their parent's addiction as the son did in story. But in the story it shows how really the family did as much as they could to help the father.
