Green Light

By
My emotions have been kidnapped
Along with my sense in what’s right and wrong.
My speech is impaired and as much as I want to
I can’t scare off the butterflies invading my stomach.
My toes feel invisible due to the numbness taking over me.
And there isn’t a thing I can do about it.

My mind is racing down a road I’ve never traveled
Leaving all past experiences in the dust
I’m floating on a cloud towards an unknown future
And the thought of this can only make me smile

Love is to blame.
A simple word but an uneasy definition
It blows my mind to think this term
Is causing me to break through my usual routine.
All cautions signs thrown aside
I’m riding full speed in the passenger seat
With only a green light ahead

I might not know where I’m going but I know where I want to stay.
