The long drive home
the heater's on
the night is dark
the radio playssoftly

A mother drives
a daughter zones out
both wish they weresomewhere else

The mother thinks,
What happened?
I just wanther to be happy.

She wipes a tear from her cheek
no one notices

Thedaughter comes back to earth
What's her problem?
Why did she make such abig deal about it?

She watches a second tear fall down her mother'scheek

"I'm sorry, Mom."

The car stops
they hug foreternity
