Mardi Gras is a big celebration that takes place in New Orleans. Mardi Gras first took place in New Orleans in 1830 but the tradition actually started in the 1920's.
People give out a lot of beads and wear a lot of beads at this celebration. The tradition of the beads first started when woman in the streets would flash men to earn the beads.
Mardi Gras is a very colorful celebration but it really only has three meain colors. Those colors consist of purple, green, and gold. Purple stands for justice, green is faith, and gold is power.
