Islam and Extremism

Most everyone in the world thinks that muslims are extremists and funamentalists. But answer me this:

What is an Extremist?
–noun 1. a person who goes to extremes, esp. in political matters.
2. a supporter or advocate of extreme doctrines or practices.
–adjective 3. belonging or pertaining to extremists.
n. One who advocates or resorts to measures beyond the norm, especially in politics.

What is a Fundamentalist?

n.
A usually religious movement or point of view characterized by a return to fundamental principles, by rigid adherence to those principles, and often by intolerance of other views and opposition to secularism.

What is a Islam?

noun-
the religious faith of Muslims, based on the words and religious system founded by the prophet Muhammad and taught by the Koran, the basic principle of which is absolute submission to a unique and personal god, Allah.

Now tell me, do these definitions match?

Islam is a religion of peace and love, NOT hatred and pain. In the history of Islam, the people under their rule were free to practice Islam, Christianity, or Judaism. (Spain is a testament of this.)
