Triggered: Sexual Violence Survivors & PTSD This work is considered exceptional by our editorial staff.

The article “Triggered: Sexual Violence Survivors & PTSD”  by Lauren, is a universal piece of work that allows other sexual assault victims to feel as if they are not alone. I feel that it perfectly encompasses the “PTSD” that is brought upon by the horrifying events that are forced upon people who do not deserve it. There is a want to be alone that is brought upon as a result of sexual assault just to feel safe and even then you drive yourself insane thinking about it. It is unfair that rape and other forms of sexual assault have become so common that people overlook the consequences that come with being a victim. People on the outside might feel as though you overreact but no matter how common sexual assault becomes the consequences are just as bad every time. It is important to remember that you are stronger than the event and the predator. You are more powerful than what has been done to you. There is always light at the end of the tunnel. Life goes on.
