The writing titled “My Battle with Mental Illness,” written by Erin, talks about her battle with depression and PTSD. Her writing left me feeling heart broken. I agree with Erin when she said, “For a longtime, I let my depression and PTSD define me.” Some people do let their mental illnesses define them. Everyone deals with things in his or her own way. Erin also said, “How the littlest things in day-to-day life can be a trigger or negative reminder.” We all have those days when we feel like we have hit rock bottom. The worst part is you can’t tell if someone is hurting on the inside. Only they feel the pain, and the feeling of being alone through all of it. She also said, “At home it’s not that easy.” Sometimes being home makes you feel worse. Sometimes people are afraid to ask for help with a mental illness.
