The writing titled “What Not to Wear,” written by Morgan Cooley, talks about dress codes. Her writing left me feeling very inspired. I feel inspired by this article because a girl who is most likely around my age is standing out against the dress codes that are now being enforced. She writes, “Humiliated, I clutched my books to my chest and ran to the bathroom to put on my gym clothes.” A child should not have to feel humiliated at school because her clothes are said to be “a distraction” to boys. “The only way the reconstruction of dress codes will be effective is if we start changing the way our society thinks.” This statement is one hundred percent true. Since when are shoulders distracting? A girl’s shoulders should not hinder the education abilities of a boy in school. If that does hinder their education, the girl should definitely not be the one being punished for it.
