The writing titled “Runaway Train,” written by Kelly Maurer, talks about Jacob running away. Her writing left me feeling kind of empty.
In the story talks about how her friend hops on a train and is never seen again. In the story she states,  “Jacob Kerry’s house used to be within walking distance, but his parents have moved. Six summers ago Jacob got on the train and never returned.” Could you imagine your friend hoping on a train and never coming back and never telling you where he is going? She also states,  “Jacob told me stories about how hard his dad would hit him when he broke a lamp playing football in the house or when he took his sister’s toys.” I don’t understand why you would hit your kid for breaking a lamp or taking toys. If that was the reason why he left, I think I would have left too.
