I found the article “Why 13 Reasons Why Fails,” written by Ellis D., interesting. 13 Reasons Why is a great show, but it does not show viewers what mental illness is really like. Ellis said, “Hannah’s mental health isn’t mentioned once. Mental health plays a major role in a individuals risk for suicide.” Although Hannah’s reasons to comment suicide were huge contributributors to her decision. She wrote, “But suicide is complex.” In my opinion 13 Reasons Why makes asking for help a bad thing. In the show the characters, school counselor, and teachers were unsupportive of Hannah when she tried to talk to someone about her problems. Although the show is great, it is sugar coated.
