I really enjoyed reading, "Lilac Pajamas and Lady Gaga Fans," by Jacob. He writes about coming out, but not wanting to be "that kind of gay". He didn't want to be stereotyped because he is gay. However, he soon realizes that his own "internalized homophobia to control what I presented to the world," is what created this idea of acting gay. Soon enough he disposes of these ugly thoughts and allows himself to be who he wants, to dress and act the way he wants. Coming out is not only about presenting yourself as gay to the people around you, but also accepting yourself. It is a difficult thing to do, and even more difficult if you don't want to accept it. Thank you Jacob for sharing your story; the fear of being stereotyped should not be enough to stop you from living the way you want.
