I can relate to Michelle E. when she wrote about college scholarships and student loans in her article "Gap Year Envy." Many of my in-state universities offer scholarships that I am eligible for, however due to my religous beliefs I want to put off college education for two years. Most of these scholarships do not allow for deferment for any time period. Rather they require that you use the scholarship the semester following your senior year. Because of this I risk taking out hundreds of thousands of dollars in student loans, loans that I will be paying off far into the future. Now I am not in favor of lowering tuition rates, but I do wish that universities would allow for deferment for a period of time following senior year. In conclusion, I would like to thank Michelle for her opinion and her article.
