Reading the title, I thought “This is going to be such a sweet story.” “Mommy’s Coming Home” by Max Firehammer certainly didn't turn out this way. Starting with the funeral of David’s wife, he explains to his six year old daughter Amy that Mommy has gone away. Soon as she begins talking to “Mr.Victor” at home, she tells David “Mommy’s coming home.” I shivered at this wondering who Mr.Victor was but soon we find that Amy has made a trade with him in return for Mommy. Her body becomes possessed and there is knocking at the door.
All I could say was “What?!” A million questions formed in my head as I longed for a continuation. I wanted to know what happened to Amy and if her mom really came back. Reading this, I thought of how many young children have imaginary friends,  and how they could potentially be demons waiting to take over. It’s silly thinking but quite terrifying. Being a piece I would have overlooked if I had known it was chilling beforehand, I came to love it.
