I am writing in response to the October 16th article “Bats don’t deserve bad reputation, enthusiasts say.” I live in Merton and last year, a bat was in the house of friend I was visiting. It was hiding in curtains and closing had made the bat fly out. The bat swooped down towards me and left a puncture wound on my finger. Even though I am fine, I have been terrified of bats ever since. After reading this article, however, I don’t believe bats are as bad as everyone thinks. People have little knowledge of bats and their positive attributes to the ecosystem. Thank you for changing both my opinion and hopefully others about these fuzzy flying mammals.
