The well written piece "All That Matters" by Shelby Stanke is about how she came to appreciate her father. As a child, Shelby was very close to her father. However, as she grew older and into the adult world, her father was no longer a friend. He was closed-minded while Shelby believed that kindness was "the driving force of the world." At the hospital after crashing the car, Shelby's father is very worried and asks if she's all right.

It's quite usual to drift apart from your family as you grow older. You have different opinions and arguments become common. However, many teenagers forget and don't realize that their family is still there. They never left you. As Shelby worded perfectly, "All we needed was some perspective." This piece definitely gave me a new perspective. I thank you, Shelby, for sharing your story and reminding us to appreciate our family.
