"Memoir of a Pathogen" is a well-crafted, informative memoir by Chris Wang. In it, he tells of the life of the virus E. Coli. Chris describes the humble roots of E. Coli, and how humans had caused it to rise to fame. Chris shows how E. Coli was transmitted from cows to humans through a lengthy process. The causes of this were mainly poor sanitation and human factory farming, showing how it is humans to blame for the spread of E. Coli. Clearly, "Memoir of a Pathogen" gives plenty of insight.

But what makes the article so great is not just the insight it gives, but its unique twist. Chris actually tells the memoir from the perspective of E. Coli itself. For instance, he wrote, "To celebrate, I hopped from one sprout to another, trying to leave as many footprints as possible." This aspect of the piece allows the reader to see things up close and personal, and also adds a certain comicality to the story. That's what makes "Memoir of a Pathogen" by Chris Wang spectacular.
