When most people think of World War II they remember a great allied victory over Germany and Japan. Yet most don’t consider the citizens of these countries who lost their homes and often their whole families.

Shizue Kobayashi was one of those who survived the bombing of Japan during World War II. She was only 13 at the time and didn’t understand the magnitude of what had happened.

Rachel N.’s interview with her grandmother gives you the perspective of someone who was considered by many to be the enemy. It also shows how confusing war can be for a child.
