I find that the memoir "'No' Should Matter" by "Kira" is a very well written piece. The author talks about her personal experience about being raped - how she said "no" and that her rapist thought it meant "okay." She describes what the emotional effects are afterwards, sharing why being raped isn't a choice for the victim to make. She felt disgusting afterwards, but it wasn't her fault.

    In the beginning, she was afraid to tell anyone what happened, and held in the "shameful aberration." She felt that since she said no, and her rapist didn't listen, that it didn't matter. In the piece, it is explained from her point of view that women feel judged by how they feel, dress or behave. They are fooled that they somehow deserve such treatment for feeling and being taught that "sexy is the ideal." Overall, I strongly agree that "no" should matter.
