Oddly enough, I found “Why I Hated ‘The Fault in Our Stars’” very amusing. It’s one of the few articles I’ve read in a long time that I can relate very much to, especially about some popular event or story going around.
Emily, I couldn’t agree with you more that the book was “not amazing, but good.” I’ve read many other books and TFIOS ranks pretty low on my list. I also agree that it “glorified the illness” - though I personally don’t know anyone that does have cancer I know enough to know that it isn’t anything light. When I was reading TFIOS, the sense of sadness never appealed to me because I feel that it just doesn’t feel right to write a story about someone with a terminal disease. Perhaps personal experience doesn’t always coincide with what’s popular, everyone’s stars are faulty anyway.
