The piece "1% Survival Rate" by Trey Buzzard is an inspiring and well written article. It describes Trey's experience as he dealt with STXBP2, referred to as "Trey syndrome." Trey syndrome is an extremely rare genetic condition only produced when both parents are of Turkish-German backgrounds. Trey tells that nobody aside from him has lived more than ten years. His survival chance was less that one percent.

I loved this piece because it moved me to hear from someone dealing with the condition. Not only explaining the syndrome, Trey goes on to give his perspective on it. My favorite line is, "However, I am the luckiest kid I know." Trey kept up with sports baseball, soccer, and tae kwon do. I found this article truly inspiring. It offered insight into one of life's struggles and how Trey learned kept his life positive.
