“Secondhand Insecurity” by Allison Ives is a mind boggling article. Before reading this column, I had never pondered as to how toxic other people’s negative comments can be, and I’m sure I’m not the only one. I profoundly appreciate the introduction of the topic by Allison and her including her personal experience involving her sister. By including this, Allison opened herself to the audience. She also strengthens her argument when stating “Being around someone who is hostile out of jealousy or insecurity can be scarring.” Although it isn’t physically damaging, the trauma caused can last a lifetime. Although I only stated a few examples, Allison Ives created a well-rounded argument.  I would like to thank her for introducing me into an eye opening problem that needs to be dealt with.
