Time to Unplug MAG

In Kristin Chang's article “Time to Unplug,” she writes about how everyone in her class freaked out when they had to go without electronics for 24 hours. While some of the reactions were exaggerated, the sentiment was more or less the same: No one wants to part with technology for any real amount of time. Kristin was under the impression that she could give it up with no problem. However, she soon discovered she was just as addicted as everyone else.

I agree with Kristin about how people need to be more aware of their obsessions and occasionally unplug for a bit. In the article, she realized that she hadn't talked to one of her friends in person for a long time. When she did, she remembered how enjoyable it was. While chatting digitally is better than not talking at all, nothing beats face-to-face interaction.

This article is a wake up call. How often do you use electronic devices? Have you ever gone a day without them? We need to balance our lives so they're not digitally dominated.
