A Still Winter Night
December 11, 2012
"A Still Winter Night" by Kesslee Stewart makes my stomach flutter. The way she describes a cold winter night reminds me of winters back home in Chicago. Even though she doesn't mention snow, I still think of winter as being white. She captures the coldness with the quote,"watch your faint, ghostlike breath stark, rising, alive." "Contrasting the black backdrop sky," captures how the nights come so much faster during winter as well. She makes winters seem calm and tranquil. This poem makes me feel home.
