Nursing Home Bob

November 15, 2012
“Dollar Up” is an extraordinary story that features a friendship between a teenager and an 81 year old man. The protagonist befriends an old man named Bob in a nursing home, where they have long conversations and give each other gifts. This is a remarkable article that had taught me a lesson, age doesn’t matter in friendship. Ainsley Losh, the main character, has never wanted kids but working in a nursing home has proven how important it is to have family.

Working with kids, she leaps to working with senior citizens. Both of these age groups change her beliefs on reproducing. Many would believe that befriending a senior citizen is queer, not Ainsley Losh. They watch out for each, have deep conversations, and share memories. Sometimes befriending a senior is better than befriending someone your age. Try it out!
