Madeline W tells the tale of a young cancer survivor named liz. She approaches the topic of Liz’s recovery with a little bit of humor. “I wake up feeling like
P. Diddy. Actually, no I don’t. I wake up feeling like Elizabeth Veldspar. Liz for short, which is always, since I’m only 5’2”. I love the character Liz because because she is confident and with personality and wit, even though she is bald and missing a leg. I like how Liz doesn’t care what people think, or if they stare.“I can do this. I can go to school again, and if people stare, I can smile and wave and pretend they think bald looks good on me.”I believe that Madeline’s character, Liz, could be an inspiration to all cancer survivors, or anyone because of her bravery and ability to rise from the dust. I really enjoyed Madeline’s story, and I would love to read more of her work.
