Phillip Helget exquisitly wrote his poem Don't Control Your Emotions. Helget's Extended metaphor comparing emotions to a painting is beautifully written. He uses numerous literary devices to emphasize his point. Alliteration, such as "Splashing streams of free-flying drops for when you cried" and personification when "Amongst the swirling clouds that slowly carry your pain" adds meaning and depth to his poem. From the moment I read his first line I was captivated; this poem is a must read. Thank you Phillip Helget for submitting this heartfelt piece.
