"Acrylic Bruises"

"Acrylic Bruises" by Vanessa Gillespie is a poem that uses metaphors to convey the look of abuse in a relationship. "His hands paint her delicate bare skin dark colors," a powerful statement that speaks to the multitude of girls and women in society that have been painted with "The acrylic stains" of abuse. In this day and age, abuse in relationships has become more and more accepted by society. "Acrylic Bruises" portrays the exact face of abuse.
