"Good-Bye Wallflowers", a story written by Sarah-Alice Hannah, is about the evolution of the respect for woman. Men have always been the dominant gender of our species. Woman would always look to them for protection and to be there for us in times of need. We depended on them with everything. These days woman are independent just as much as men. Sarah’s theory is that if men can ask girls out, why can’t the girl ask out guys? Most girls are too nervous or shy to take initiative. Most girls expect the guys to make the first move, but why can’t the girl? Sarah can’t wait till the day it won’t be out of the ordinary for girls to ask out guys.
In my opinion, I believe that the girl should be able to make the first move. Why can’t she take the initiative? Women and men both have the same rights. We are seen as equals. Most people are used to having the man asking the girl out but in this century, it should not be out of the ordinary if it were the other way around.
