Mary Dorroh did a great job in “How I Became a Cross-Country Runner.” She talks about how scared she was going to high school – and had been told how mean seniors were. Mary decides to do track and discovers the seniors are nice and a big help.

This is a reassuring piece for readers like me just entering high school. However, there is one thing I didn't understand: The story is about how she joined the track team, but the title is “How I Became a Cross-Country Runner.” The picture with the article was also about cross-country. Otherwise this was a great article that really helped me feel better about the prospect of going to high school next year.
