A Crash Course in Coolness This work has been published in the Teen Ink monthly print magazine.

I found myself agreeing with Emily Doughan's article “A Crash Course in Coolness.” Unfortunately, teens believe obtaining their driver's license will make them cool and they feel overconfident in their driving abilities. Most new drivers do not know how to operate a car properly or how to react in certain situations. A driver's license does not guarantee that you are a safe driver. It is especially dangerous when young drivers have passengers in the car, for there is a greater chance the driver will get distracted and have an accident.

Thank you, Emily, for your article and for reminding us that driving is a serious undertaking. Remember that being cool does not mean being a reckless driver!
