“50 Reasons to Live” by “Karen” in the September 2011 issue is about a fourteen year-old girl who lives on a Germany army base and is about to commit suicide. As she starts to write her suicide note, she can’t think of anything to write except for fifty reasons to live. Later on, her family moves, and she gets help from her English and history teacher on how to relieve herself of depression.

I am very sad that someone would feel this way about his or her life. I don’t feel as if I could relate because I haven’t felt this way. I don’t see the same dilemma in Ayersville. I feel that everyone in Ayersville is happy and doesn’t feel the need to be suicidal, but, of course, I am very unaware of unobvious things that happen. I understand why she could feel this way, but I also don’t at the same time. I know why people do feel this way, but she really didn’t explain to us why she felt that way.
