Even though every family has its quirks, I loved the way Hannah M. described hers in her unique piece, “Letter to a Future Date.” Writing in second-person, as if the reader is the lucky boy invited to her family dinner, she describes her overprotective twin brother, her fashionista sister, and her quiet younger brother.

Hannah’s lighthearted tone made it easy to identify with her, and the way she spoke of her brothers and sister reminded me of my siblings. I felt like this piece gave me a glimpse into the type of family she has. I loved the humorous voice; I smiled thinking about how hard she is working to impress the boy of her dreams.
