My World as a Firefighter

     "My World as a Firefighter" caught my eye because my dad is chief of the Charlestown Fire Department and Captain of the C shift.

Since my dad's a firefighter, I've become interested in joining the fire department. Just recently, I've become an Explorer and am allowed to go out on calls and have my own gear. It's really exciting when you get to ride to a fire, help out and watch it being put out.

When we have training, we get to help put out the fires. Once they actually let us go into a burning house. I understand how Laura feels about fires because I've experienced some of what she's gone through. Not many understand how big a risk we take every time we go to a fire.
