Ian Spiegel-Blum’s “The Night of Broken Glass”, is a lurid and harrowing account of Kristallnacht through the words of a rabbi echoed in a synagogue. Seemingly written as a bildungsroman; this piece will resonate with the reader in a profound way. Perhaps this piece can, and ultimately is, a solemn remembrance of the past; and yet, there is something incandescent and hopeful that remains. This would rather preserve the memory of the lost rather than to illustrate a minuscule point.
