We were very surprised to read "Unconditional Love" (October issue) at TeenInk.com. We could not believe how close to home it came. Being "out" only a few months, both Lukas and I are going through the same ordeal as Lauren and Niki: rejection, snide remarks, extremely cold stares, hurtful and nasty comments both to our faces and behind our backs. You would think there would be a little more tolerance, but like them, we are coping. And we are making our way in this world as a couple, though not without difficulties.
We'd like to thank Lauren for telling her story, and Teen Ink for publishing it. It helps. Love can conquer anything.
