I am so grateful that Teen Ink published the interview with journalist Bill Hemmer. As an aspiring broadcast journalist, I am constantly told to consider a steadier and safer job. Each question that was asked in the interview, however, only confirmed my dream of becoming a reporter as I learned more about Hemmer’s experiences.
I understand that as a journalist I will undergo a number of the trials Hemmer describes, like moving from city to city and earning low pay, but I will get to experience something most people never do: seeing history unfold before my eyes.
This interview has encouraged me to push hard for what I want, to maintain my patience on the job, and to remember that in the end, this profession will prove rewarding.
