The fiction piece “Perfect” by Kelsey H. is sad considering it’s about a girl with cancer, but it’s more than that. I found the story hard to understand because I couldn’t imagine experiencing what the character was going through. She tries to hide her illness from her classmates, afraid that if they know she has cancer, they won’t think she’s “perfect” anymore.

The protagonist seems very strong. She doesn’t want people to feel bad for her. The doctors tell her that she probably has only a year to live, and yet all she is worried about is hiding her illness. I think this story teaches a good lesson that even though you might think someone is perfect, they probably have problems too.
