The writing titled "What's Broken" written by Miles P., talks about how "black and brown teens, kids, and adults are shot everyday because of fear, racism, and negative assumptions." This is a big problem that we don't experience a lot in our predominantly white area. Even middle school students of color are afraid of their schools. The author shows that the issue is personal to them by stating, "I'm a middle school student of color and I want to feel safe without the presence of police officers watching my every move. "If I'm going to feel safe I don't want armed officers on my campus at all", says Miles. This article is very well written and makes strong arguments about the safety of our school for teens and kids of color.
