“Trauma at Twelve Years Old” by Amelia Hamilton is an artistic and powerful  yet sad piece. It is a succinct poem about a twelve year old girl who has endured so much trauma that it aged her. The writer puts immense amounts of meaning into four lines of poetry. The girl being described is shown to have had an extremely hard time. The poet describes her tears as, “The salt water on her cheeks,” and it is amazingly stylistic and open to interpretation.

Sometimes trauma from stress can age and tire people. At twelve I did not have much stress in my life, but I have seen what it can do. For example, my mom said that the stress from the summer made her feel like she was ten years older by the end thought this poem was extremely well written.
