1. Hoisted upon a padded chair
2. Feet dangling high above the carpeted floor
3. She waits patiently, nervously in utter darkness
4. Longing for some alleviation of the blackness
5 Yet dreading the shining flashlight
6. That will taunt pupils into a dizzy dance of expansion and contraction
7. The doctor enters, shining white and smiling
8. In a false portrayal of friendliness
9. But the girl sighs as he points to the blurry chart
10. And groans inwardly at the diagnosis (which must be a mistake)
11. "I'll give you a prescription for     corrective lenses."
