Crystal Waters This work has been published in the Teen Ink monthly print magazine.

By
The ice-cold crystal water flows from crimson, purple mountain tops,

Pouring into a dazzling river

More magnificent than the Nile

And bubbling over rocks in a steady murmur.

A huge moose cleanses his smooth fur coat in the cool blue pool.

Awe-inspiring, the creature leisurely begins to drink.

He is hardly ever seen or gazed upon,

Known as the forest's own Loch Ness Monster.

A snow-white rabbit gets its fluffy cotton tail wet;

Powerful hind legs spring from one mossy rock to the next.

Its pink nose twitches and takes in the sugar smell of the sweet, green pine needles.

The creature's long floppy ears instantly become erect, sensing movement in the pure

natural liquid.

The eerie call of a loon surrounds all mysteriously in the distance.

It swiftly approaches the stream, gliding smoothly on onyx feathers.

Sailing to a perfect landing, drifting to the water,

The mysterious bird plunges in, creating delicate waves.

This pristine stream is the key element

That ties the creatures of the forest together.

It cleanses, protects, and provides for them.

Without it, the forest would be lost forever.
