Untitled MAG

By Erin E., Columbia, MD

We tear down the intricate forests.
We gag her with trash so she no longer speaks.
We fill her lungs with poison
so she can no longer breathe,
and still she hugs us,
embracing her children,
loving us despite the rage,
the greed,
the hate,
the ignorance.
Through this haze of defiance,
she loves us,
crying acid tears.
Shame on us.
Shame on all of us.

"And this, our life, exempt from public haunt, finds tongues in trees, books in the running brooks, sermons in stones, and good in everything." -- William Shakespeare

this is insane. I sent it to my former english teacher to show his class. you are a beautiful writer and this was really powerful. i loved it. you really captured what you wanted to say and said it without being too vague OR too wordy, which is hard (for me, at least). keep writing! (please! i would read more!)
