Why spoil the water?

Why do we spoil the water with oil?Oil is a poison to the enviroment.We drink water and animals live in water too.We need the water bacause most of our food source comes from the water.We eat crab,fish,gator and abunc of animals that comes from the water.If we poison the water,we poison the animals in it, if we poison the animals in it then eat them we poison ourselves.So why poison the water?
