i go to see Him every weekend day
when He sees me He smiles and says
"how you doin'? what's new today?"
i have a friend: His name is Leslie Westphall,
but He told me to call Him Poppa n' i didn't argue with that one
He lives in a nursing home and is 95.
He's almost seen a century of peace, war, and those who are kind
i visit him on the weekends He says it makes His day
and though i may not admit it for me it is the same
what stories He has to tell me
and knowledge He was to give
He thinks of me as His special friend:
