Dream with your eyes open

Hold that head high.
‘Cause right now nobody cares whether your pants are too tight,
Or too loose.
Whether you spent hours last night on the bathroom floor throwing up your tea,
Or whether you count every calorie that passes those lips which may as well be sewn shut.
Because nobody listens when you try to speak,
No one hears your cries at night because nobody cares.
You wait, my dear, one day they’ll be stood on rooftops screaming
“I knew that girl”
One day when you’re gone, they’ll gather in circles around your grave and cry
“what did we do so wrong”
Well, I’ll tell you. You didn't listen when she tried to speak,
You weren't there when she cried for you,
When she needed you.
One day, when the windows are smashed in and the cobwebs are wound tight around your heart
They’ll hear.
You’ll make them hear how you screamed at night for someone to help you,
How you cried into the comfort of your pillow when they told you
“you’re just not good enough for this world."
Well, honey, look who’s not good enough now.
Look at my rotting corpse underground,
At the shadows that follow you across the street,
When you choose your next victim.
Look at the words you screamed out to push people into the depths of that oh so familiar water.
Look at yourself,
Look at how you pulled her apart until the only thing she could hear was the cry of your voice saying “honey, those jeans are too tight.”
Look at you and then look at her.
Look at what you did to the girl who once smiled so big the world smiled with her.
Look at the gashes that cover her arm and the network of silvering scars that cover her ankles.
Look at how you ruined the only thing that was real for her.
Look at her body,
Look at how she’s the perfect weight now that the flesh is falling off her bones and the tangles of hair are shining golden.
Look at what you did to her.
See you ignored her when she told you she heard them.
The voices that spent oh so long breaking down every ounce of confidence and self respect she ever built up.
The voices that drove her that night to pick up the pills and swallow every single one of them
The voice was yours, she was fighting the entire world.
