Lisette Beckham is the daughter of a doctor in her local neighborhood of Denver, Colorado. She has an iron heart and a great love for Japan; so much of a love that she will do anything to go there. When a young Japanese boy by the name of Tetsuya is thrown into her life, she slowly falls for his wit and kindness.

But Tetsuya has a dark side, one that he refuses to reveal to Lisette, which she excuses a probable dispute between relatives at home and himself. When something drastic at home happens, Lisette agrees to run away to Japan with Tetsuya and her family, only to be kidnapped by Yakuza.
Will this change her love for Japan, for Tetsuya?
