“No. Never.”

“Think carefully about your decision.”

I looked away from his evil, green eyes. “No,” I repeated.

“I guess I could settle for your sister.”

My eyes grew wide and flew back to his face. “No!”

He gave me an evil smile. “It’s you or her.”

I was trapped, and he knew it. My gaze returned to the ground, and I reluctantly whispered, “Fine.”

“I can’t hear you,” he taunted.

“Fine!” I shouted the word, and stomped away from my new fiancé.

The author's comments:
This is the opening to a novel-length work that is set in the future. The narrator is named Emily.

That's really good!  I like how you didn't try to add in too much description or anything; it really kept the focus on the dialogue and raw emotions.  I'd like to know what happens next.
