Being the new kid

The worst thing about being the new kid is finding yourself all over again.
If your lucky you will be the same person you always were, but most likely scenario;
you meet one person who introduces you to their friends who are nothing like your
old friends, but you will hang our with them anyway because their the only people
you know. You may try to make new friends but your probably going to hang
out with the same people until you graduate or move.

That's the main thought line streaming through my mind as I walked
around the new school. I was just getting used to the halls and finding my
classes for tomorrow when I actually do start going to this school. There
were five buildings that made up my new school, and each one had at least
three floors, much bigger than my old school. I'm sure you can imagine my
reaction when I was told we were moving, I cried for days, but now I'm here
and there's no going back.

At my old school I had three best friends, one of which I have been
madly in love with since I was seven. The three of us rarely all hung out together
because they were my best friends they weren't each others best friends.
Anyway when I was with Stef we would usually walk around town we would
always talk when we were together. My friend Travis is my car friend, he
will drive us down to Smith Brothers the coffee shop and we would hang out
there.

Last but certainly not least, Zach the love of my life. When Zach came
over we would play games, usually Rock Band, until it got dark. Zach and I
would go for walks in the middle of the night and he would always try to
scare me. He usually talks about how there are a bunch of escaped criminals
that were going to cut off our faces and wear them so they can have a new
identity, but his stories usually left me laughing. Though when the stories
didn't get me in tears he would throw himself in front of cars to scare me, which
was so stupid, I had to hold his hand when we walked to make sure that he
wouldn't do anything like that. Holding Zachs' hand on a midnight stroll, that's
something that I can never forget, even if I moved all the way around the world.
I'm going to miss him so much.

I can't believe that I can ever find friends like them again. My friends
were the kind that didn't persuade you to do drugs or drink, they listened to
me and they would do what I wanted to do. According to my earlier thoughts
about being the new kid, I'm not going to find friends like them.

The next day I went to school. In hopes of just blending in with the
walls I wore a white t-shirt with brown pants. It didn't help as soon as I got
into my first class I could feel everyone staring at me. I went to the teacher
and asked her where I should sit, she looked like she was in her forties,
she had blond hair, green eyes, and a tired looking face. I found my desk
and sat down, I could already here people talking about me, it was really
awkward. I used this time to see if there were any people who resembled
my old friends, there weren't.

After class a girl came up to me and asked where my next class
was. She didn't look like a bad person so I told her and she walked with
me part of the way to my next class, which was Spanish. All of my classes
were pretty much the same as the first, people would talk about me, and
at the end of class someone would ask me what I had next and they would
walk me to class.

The most stressing part of my day was here, lunch time. Where
was I going to sit. There were only five people who have talked to me
today, which limited me to a few tables and that's only if I could find any
of them that have the same lunch hour as me. I was just about ready to
spend my lunch hour in the bathroom when a girl called me over.

"Do you have anywhere to sit?" I shook my head and she said
that I can sit with her. She had her friend scoot over and she had me
sit there. I felt bad about taking her friends sit but when I looked over
at the girl she was smiling at me and her eyes told me that she didn't
mind me taking her seat. "So where are you from?"

"Wisconsin." I felt weird talking to these people but I couldn't
just ignore them. They asked me about my hobbies, if I had a boyfriend
and a bunch of other questions. The lunch hour went by so fast that
I was confused when people started leaving. I hadn't eaten any lunch
but that was alright because I now had friends. The girl whose spot I
took had the same class as me so we walked together and she told
me that the girl who had me take her spot was very bossy, and we
just clicked.

Katie and I are best friends now and were graduating next
year. We have this plan of going back home to visit my friends, she
wants to meet Travis and she wants to make sure that Zach and
me get together. I couldn't have asked for a better friend, she's
amazing. We hang out almost every day, last summer we did hang
out everyday were practically sisters, when school started I cried
because for the few hours we weren't with each other I was missing
her terribly. I hope Katie and I stay friends forever.
