“One fish, two fish, red fish, blue fish,” Lillian chanted, skipping happily around the living room. My wife watched her from the couch, laughing and getting up to play with our little girl. I finished the dishes quickly and watched my girls singing to the Princess and the Frog soundtrack. They were so adorable. I was, no, I am, so blessed. I watched them fondly for five whole minutes. They saw me eventually and decided it would be an ideal time for a Tickle War, which I gladly participated in. But those five minutes made me realize once again what it is to love. One fish, two fish, red fish, blue fish. Love is a Dr. Seuss rhyme.

I wrote this short piece because of a prompt we were given in my creative writing class. I grew up with Dr. Seuss like most other children, and reading it always makes me nostalgic. I felt like this represented those feelings in a different way.
